“Houston, we have a problem” is a sentence we are all familiar with. “Houston, we have a solution” is a new, but true sentence. Houston is bringing us a grando slatted roller cover, with which grando partner Covertech in Colorado is meeting customer requirements other than the classics, “save energy” and “improve water quality”, and overcoming some very special challenges, i.e. covering not just a standard pool, but a free-form pool with different radii. The owner also wanted to make the swimming pool safe for his dogs and still enjoy the underwater floodlights while the pool was covered. All in all, this means combining individuality, aesthetics and safety. It also goes without saying that the workings must be top-quality and the material durable. At first, accuracy was required. A surveyor measured the exact dimensions of the pool on site so that we could make the cover precisely. The polycarbonate construction consists of two IBS-6 slatted roller covers – one 8.3 metres wide and 6.5 metres long and one 7.6 metres wide and 2.5 metres long – and one IBS-8 slatted roller cover that stretches out over a width of nine metres. A safety support provides the required protection against accidents and the translucent design lets the attractive, underwater floodlights shine through at all times. “Houston, we have solved the problem.”
